New Paltz Tennis Matches Up Against Husson University in First Round of NCAA Tournament

New Paltz Sports Information Department

Indianapolis – The NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Committee announced the 49 teams competing for the 2019 women's tennis championship Monday, which included the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Champions, the State University of New York at New Paltz.

The Hawks (17-0 overall), competing in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2010-11 season, will face Husson University (10-1) in a first round matchup May 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Bowdoin College.

Teams will play a single elimination with the first, second and third round games played at regional sites, while Kalamazoo College (Michigan) will host the championships on May 20-22.

SUNY New Paltz remained undefeated during its regular season run after collecting wins over William Smith College, Springfield College, Goucher College, George Fox University, Ithaca College, Stevens Institute of Technology, Manhattanville College and Union College this spring. If the Hawks defeat the Eagles, they will move on to play MIT, which received a first round bye. Two-straight wins in the tournament has never been done in program history, but SUNY New Paltz has already beaten the odds with a conference championship and perfect 17-0 regular season mark.
