
SUNYAC releases Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week
CORTLAND, N.Y. -The State University of New York Athletic Confrence (SUNYAC) selected Cortland teammates Peyton Lalone, (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) and Dane Sorensen, (Warwick, N.Y.) as the Men's Track and Field Athletes of the week.
Lalone finished in second place out of 28 sprinters in the 200-meter dash and second out of 15 in the 60-meter dash at the Cornell Kane Invitational. He was the top Division III finisher in each event. Lalone's time of 22.28 seconds in the 200 meters, which matches his best time of the season, is tied for 12th nationally in Division III and third in the AARTFC. His 60-meter dash prelim time of 7.01 seconds (he ran 7.03 in the finals) is currently 10th in the AARTFC.
Sorensen finished second out of 28 competitors in the pole vault at the Utica College Pioneer Invitational. He cleared 4.80 meters (15' 9"), which as of Sunday night is tied for ninth nationally in Division III and tied for first in the AARTFC. Sorensen helped Cortland finish third out of 15 schools in the final team standings at Utica.
