
SUNYAC selects Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week
CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Sate University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) selects Plattsburgh teammates Marissa Jones (Sauquoit, N.Y.) and Victoria Whimple (Castleton, N.Y.) as Women's Track and Field athletes of the week.
Marissa Jones won the 400-meters and set the school record with a regional time of 56.64 seconds, which is currently the sixth fastest time in NCAA Division III at the Cortland Classic on Saturday. Her time also ranks her first in the SUNYAC and second in the region. Jones was also part of the 4x100-meter relay that won and set a new program record with a regional time of 49.35 seconds.
Whimple won the triple jump and set the school record with a regional mark of 11.99 meters (39' 4"), which is the second farthest jump in NCAA Division III at the Cortland Classic on Saturday. Her jump also ranks her first in both the SUNYAC and region. Whimple was also part of the 4x100-meter relay that won with a regional and new school record time of 49.35 seconds.
