
Game of the Week: Husted scores with six seconds left to earn Buffalo State a tie vs Fredonia
CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Game of the Week comes from the men's ice hockey conference matchup between Buffalo State and Fredonia last Friday. The Blue Devils hosted the Bengals in a 4-4 tie playing their second straight tie of the week. On the other side, Andrew Husted's late game tying goal secures a big comeback for the Bengals.
Game Facts
Fredonia outshot the Bengals 11-9 in the first period and were rewarded with a lone marker on a power play to give the Blue Devils the early lead. Husted netted his first of the game off assists by Vadim Vasjonkin and Zach Remers for Buffalo State just two minutes into the second period. Fredonia's Jimmy Morgan scored at the midway point in the second to put the Blue Devils back in the lead. Ben Butcher and Connor Zak added two more late goals for Buffalo State to take a 3-2 lead into the last period. Fredonia came out hot in the third period with goals from Mike Freeman and Bobby Polachek to take a 4-3 lead late in the game. The final minutes of the game were marked by high drama, including an apparent Fredonia goal that was waved off. With just six seconds left in the game, Andrew Husted scored a goal to tie the game and send it to an extra period. Both teams had multiple chances to win in the extra period but neither could convert.
