No Spectators at SUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Championship

SYRACUSE, NY – The 2022 State University of New York Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships will not be able to accommodate in-person spectators during the league's two-day event scheduled for Friday, Feb. 25, and Saturday, Feb. 26, inside the SERC venue at SUNY Brockport.

Fans will be able to view the events through the live stream each day with results available here.

"To conform with the NCAA recommended protocols, the teams competing in the SUNYAC Championships will be strategically spread through out the SERC to ensure all health and safety protocols are followed and that the championship can be completed," Commissioner Tom DiCamillo said.

DiCamillo explained that the entire indoor track facility of the SERC falls under the NCAA Tier I "bubble" category and only coaches, event administrators and student-athletes entered in events are permitted within the facility.

The SUNYAC has not held its Indoor Track & Field Championships since 2020 due to the pandemic, while the last time the NCAA held its National Championship was in 2019.

"I understand it is disappointing, but the SUNYAC has been successful in completing its conference schedules and championships by being diligent in its approach to administering intercollegiate athletics," DiCamillo said. "Our priority is to ensure the student-athletes are able to compete in an indoor track & field conference championship in 2022 after not having that opportunity in 2021."
