Fox and Dowling Earn PrestoSports Field Hockey Weekly Awards

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has picked Cortland's Lily Fox and New Paltz's Ryan Dowling as the final 2021 PrestoSports Field Hockey Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.

Fox helped lead the nationally 16th-ranked Red Dragons (15-1) to a pair of road wins last week, scoring eight points on three goals and two assists. In a 3-0 win at Oswego on Wednesday, Fox had a hand in all three goals, assisting on the game winner 5:10 into the game and adding insurance goals at 16:43 and 27:57. She then recorded a goal and an assist in a 3-2 victory at Skidmore on Saturday, assisting on Cortland's first goal and tallying the team's second goal. For the season, Fox is second on Cortland with 35 points on 12 goals and a team-best 11 assists.

Dowling was huge in a two-win week for the Hawks, conceding just one goal while making 12 saves in both victories. Against Oneonta Thursday, Dowling helped her team to their first ever undefeated regular conference season posting a 4-0 shutout against the Red Dragons after starting the first three quarters and making one stop. Dowling was even more impressive against No. 18 Vassar making 11 saves in a double-overtime game that went into 1-v-1's with Dowling coming out on top to help her team to a 2-1 victory.
