Danny Coleman Off to Solid Pro Start with Empire League's Tupper Lake Riverpigs

Third baseman Danny Coleman, who recently concluded his career with the Cortland baseball team, is currently playing with the Tupper Lake Riverpigs in the Empire Baseball League.

The Empire Baseball League is a professional developmental league similar to the Class A level of minor league baseball. The league was established in 2015.

Coleman has played in nine games so far this summer for the Riverpigs. The Saratoga Springs native is batting .269 with two homers, two triples, a double, 10 RBI, 11 runs scored and 11 walks through games of June 20. The league's regular season runs until July 25.

This past spring at Cortland, Coleman started 47 games and hit .376 with 12 homers, 18 doubles, 64 RBI, 54 runs and 31 walks. He finished with a .688 slugging percentage and a .474 on-base percentage, along with a .944 fielding percentage at third base, and stole four bases. Coleman had four or more RBI five times, including eight in a two-homer game versus Brockport during the regular season, and he was named the SUNYAC tournament MVP. Coleman played in 169 games during his career at Cortland and registered 23 homers (tied for third in school history), 35 doubles, 127 RBI, 79 walks and 109 runs scored. He earned all-region honors in both 2021 and 2022.

Cortland finished the 2022 season with a 35-12 record. The Red Dragons repeated as SUNYAC tournament champion and earned their 29th straight NCAA Division III tournament berth, extending their Division III record. Cortland finished 2-2 in regional action to tie for 17th place nationally.
