Brockport Names Colin Cornaire Head Men's Lacrosse Coach

Brockport Sports Information Department

SUNY Brockport Athletic Director Erick Hart announced the hiring of Colin Cornaire as the new head men's lacrosse coach on Friday. Cornaire will be responsible for all aspects of Brockport's men's lacrosse program.

"We are excited to have Colin join our staff here at Brockport," said athletic director Erick Hart. "His previous experience and success as a student-athlete and coach in the SUNYAC and the surrounding areas makes him an excellent fit to lead our men's lacrosse program. We're thrilled to welcome Colin to the Brockport family, and we can't wait for him to begin working with our student-athletes."

Get to Know Coach Cornaire

Most recently, Cornaire spent four seasons on the men's lacrosse staff at SUNY Geneseo where he was the first assistant and offensive coordinator.  He also spent time as the interim head coach for the Knights.  He helped the program post a 15-4 conference record during his time and made three SUNYAC Championship game appearances.  As the offensive coordinator he helped coach eight USILA All-Americans, 21 SUNYAC All-Conference selections and helped raise the program into the receiving votes category of the USILA National Coaches Top 20 Poll on two separate occasions.  Cornaire played a key role in boosting the Knights offensive production, nearly doubling their goals per game average over the course of four seasons.

"I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and would like to thank Erick Hart and the entire SUNY Brockport athletic community for welcoming me into their family," said Cornaire. "Brockport is one of the top colleges in the state and the academics and athletics here have an excellent tradition. I am humbled and honored to be a part of this community and excited to bring this program to new heights in both the SUNYAC and the nation!"

Strong Local Lacrosse Ties

Prior to his time at Geneseo he spent three seasons as the offensive coordinator at his alma mater, Division II Roberts Wesleyan College where he helped recruit and groom National Lacrosse League 1st Round Draft pick Hunter Lemieux.  The offense saw an increase in goals and points per game in each of his three seasons. In his second year, Cornaire led his man-up offense to as high as fourth in the national ranking (45.7%) and finished 10th in the nation (38%). In his last season with RWC, Cornaire's offense ranked 6th nationally in shooting percentage (36%), just behind three of the semifinalists in the NCAA Tournament. He was also the recruiting coordinator, face-off coordinator and held several administrative duties during his time with the Redhawks.

Cornaire is also engrained in the local club lacrosse scene and has spent time as a head coach at Harvest Lacrosse Club and most recently at Sweetlax Upstate Lacrosse.

After graduating from nearby Rush-Henrietta, Cornaire played men's lacrosse at Monroe Community College, where he ranked 13th in the nation for total points. He went on to finish his career at Roberts Wesleyan for their inaugural 2012 season. He scored the first goal in the history of the program and led the nation with 4.8 points per game during that season.

He graduated from Roberts in 2014 with a B.S. in Marketing. Cornaire is a Rochester native and resides in Henrietta with his wife Elizabeth, three daughters Sawyer, Shea, and Elle, and son, Leo.

2022 Brockport Golden Eagles

Brockport finished its 2022 campaign with a 10-5 overall record, marking the second most wins in program-history. They earned the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament but fell in the semifinals on the road at Geneseo.  Brockport was making its sixth conference tournament appearance since 2011. Brockport's 191 goals in 2022 set a new program record. Five Golden Eagles were named USILA All-Americans, including SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Year Rocco Santillo, who earned third team recognition.
