Men's Outdoor Track & Field Annual Awards Announced

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) annouces its 2022 men's outdoor track and field top awards including Track Athlete of the Year, Field Athlete of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coaching Staff of the Year as voted on by the conference coaches.

Men's Track Athlete of the Year - Nick Andrews, Geneseo

Andrews earned All-American status at the NCAA Division III championship finishing seventh in the 5,000 meter with a time of 14:33.94. This season he set a school and conference record in the 5,000 with a time of 14:11.44. Andrews finished the season ranked 25 in the 3,000 meter and finished first at the SUNYAC championship meet.

Men's Field Athlete of the Year - Art Jordan, Brockport

In his second straight national appearance, Jordan finished 10th in the shot put with a distance of 16.14 meters at the 2022 NCAA Division III championship. He also finished 25th in the discus at the NCAA meet after he captured the SUNYAC title in both the shot put and discus. He was also seventh at the conference championship in the hammer throw. Jordan was awarded Most Outstanding Performance and the Most Valuable Performer at the SUNYAC outdoor championship meet.

Men's Rookie of the Year - Ryan Cory, Cortland

In his first season running outdoor, Cory was third in the 5,000 meter and fourth in the 1,500 meter at the SUNYAC championship meet. He was also recently named to the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-District team.

Men's Coaching Staff of the Year - Geneseo

The Knights coaching staff is led by head coach, Chris Popovici and is assisted by Dan MooreCamille Wutz, Christian Johnson and Ashton Fischer. Geneseo took home its fourth-straight and ninth overall SUNYAC men's outdoor track and field title in 2022. The team had 20 top 10 finishes at the SUNYAC championship meet. The staff coached the Knights to All-American finishes in the 5,000 (7th place) and 4x400 relay (4th) at the NCAA Division III championship.
