Grunder honored as PrestoSports Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) honors Cortland's Austin Grunder as the PrestoSports Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the third straight week.

Grunder averaged 32.3 points and 10 rebounds per game as Cortland won three games during the week to earn a berth into the SUNYAC playoffs. He began the week Tuesday with 26 points and 13 rebounds in a 73-66 win at Buffalo State. During that game he reached the career 1,000-point mark in just his second season of action; he's only the second Cortland men's player to reach 1,000 points in his first two seasons. Grunder followed that effort with 37 points and seven boards in a 103-90 home win over Buffalo St. Friday, and on Saturday, with Cortland needing to win to make the playoffs, he scored 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 74-66 win over Geneseo. Grunder has scored more than 30 points six times this season. For the week, he shot 64 percent from the floor (38-of-59) and was a perfect 16-for-16 from the foul line.
