New Paltz Sweeps PrestoSports Women's Tennis Weekly Awards

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has picked New Paltz's Tatiana Barnett as the PrestoSports Women's Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week while teammates Trinity Chow and Anya Barteck were named the Doubles Team of the Week.

Barnett went undefeated for the Hawks(3-0), playing fourth singles in a dual match against RPI Wednesday and at the New Paltz Scramble against Union and Ramapo Colleges. Barnett was just one of two singles wins against the Engineers, as she defeated RPI's Brooke Bauer 6-2, 6-4 in the match. She then won both her singles matches Saturday, defeating Ramapo, 8-0 and then Union, 8-2 in round two.

Chow and Barteck went undefeated (3-0) at first doubles in a dual match against RPI Wednesday and at the New Paltz Scramble Saturday. Against the Engineers Wednesday, Chow and Barteck were the Hawks' only doubles victory, as they won, 8-7 with an 8-6 tie-breaker. Saturday, they defeated Union's first doubles team, 8-5 in round one and then went on to defeat Rampao, 8-1 in round two.
