Williams Selected 2022 SUNYAC Women's Swimming & Diving Scholar Athlete of the Year

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) is pleased to announce Cortland's Taylor Williams as the 2022 Women's Swimming and Diving Scholar Athlete of the Year. This award is nominated and voted on by the conference sports information directors. During each season, the conference honors student-athletes for their efforts in their sport, as well as their academics. Out of hundreds of winter athletes, one athlete from each sport was selected for this distinction.

Williams is a Biology major with a 3.75 overall GPA. At the 2022 NCAA Division III National Championships, Williams earned All-American honors on the 3-meter board after she placed sixth nationally. She earned an honorable mention All-American on the 1-meter dive placing 16th nationally as well. After her accomplishments at the NCAA Championship Meet, Williams was voted SUNYAC Diver of the Year. Prior to NCAAs, Williams placed fourth regionally on the 3-meter board. She earned SUNYAC Women's Diver of the Meet after she won league titles on both boards. Williams was also named the SUNYAC Diver of the Week six times this season.

In order to be eligible for the SUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year award student-athletes must prove both academic and athletic excellence by obtaining a minimum 3.30 overall GPA, be a starter or significant reserve for their team, and be at least a sophomore. The SUNYAC Scholar Athlete Award began in 2016-17.
