Brockport's Art Jordan placed tenth and narrowly missed out on a finals appearance while Alex Rood finished 17th in the shot put on day two of NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio on Friday.

Jordan, making his second straight national appearance, posted his top throw of the day of 16.14m in his second attempt of the afternoon.  His first throw was 14.48m and his third throw was 15.84m. His top ten finish as nationals is a new career-best.  Jordan missed out on a final's appearance by just .07 meters.

Rood fouled on his first attempt, registered a 14.46m on his second attempt and capped his day with a throw of 14.51m.

Jordan and Rood were both making their second straight NCAA appearance after qualifying during the indoor season.  Jordan had a banner year for the Golden Eagles after sweeping the major individual awards at the SUNYAC Outdoor Championships in early May.  He qualified ranked fourth nationally in the shot put with a throw of 16.87m.  His throw ranks second all-time at Brockport.  This past indoor season at nationals he placed 17th. Jordan caps his career as a three-time SUNYAC Champion, twice in the shot put and once in the discus.

Rood qualified ranked 18th with a career-best distance of 15.98m, a throw which he recorded at the Nazareth ROC City Final qualifier.
