Cortland No. 1 in SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse Preseason Poll

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The 2021 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's lacrosse champions, Cortland, secured the No. 1 spot in the 2022 preseason poll voted on by the conference coaches. Geneseo was voted No. 2 followed by No. 3 Oneonta.

Cortland earned their 27th overall men's lacrosse SUNYAC championship crown last season. Following the win, the Red Dragons earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III men's lacrosse tournament. The Red Dragons nine-game winning streak ended in the second round against RIT. Cortland tied for ninth nationally and finished the 2021 season 11-4 overall.

The Knights are hoping for another run at the conference title in the 2022 season. With a three goal deficit in the 2021 championship, Geneseo fell to the Red Dragons of Cortland (11-8) ending the season 6-4 overall. This season the Knights look to capture their fourth overall conference title and first since 2007.

Oneonta is focused on winning their first-ever SUNYAC championship in 2022. In the 2021 SUNYAC semifinals, the Oneonta Red Dragons were defeated by the Geneseo Knights ending their season with a 14-3 loss. Oneonta finished last season 5-3 overall.

Men's lacrosse conference competition will begin March 26. The championship tournament will start with the semifinals May 4 followed by the championship game May 7.
