PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Jordyn Naylon, who has served as an assistant coach with the SUNY Cortland cross country and track and field programs the past six years, has been named the head cross country coach and assistant track and field coach at Plattsburgh State, as announced Monday by Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Mike Howard.

"This is a great day for the continued growth and success of our cross country and track and field programs," Howard said. "In addition to an outstanding athletic career, which saw her excel at both the SUNYAC and national levels, Jordyn has a great coaching résumé and deep passion for cross country and distance running. She is extremely well regarded as a coach, and I am looking forward to welcoming her to Cardinal Country."

During her time at Cortland, Naylon has coached two regional champions and two All-Americans, including Ryan Cory, who placed first at the NCAA Division III Niagara Region Cross Country Championships and earned All-America honors by finishing 40th out of 289 runners at the NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championships in 2021. In addition, she has coached four national qualifiers between cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field.

As an undergraduate student-athlete at Cortland, Naylon earned All-America honors in the mile at the 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships and earned two All-Region honors in cross country. In addition, Naylon, who qualified for nationals five times between cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field, was named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) All-Decade Team (2010-19) for women's track and field.

"I'm very excited to be joining the athletics staff at Plattsburgh State as the head cross country coach," Naylon said. "I'm fortunate to have this opportunity to join a program and college that's focused on academic and athletic growth and success as well as personal growth and development. The sense of community from the college, its staff and the city is fantastic, and I have felt at home almost immediately. To be joining a staff that's passionate and focused on personal development of their student-athletes is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I'm looking forward to working with Mike Howard, Coach Willmott and Coach Krug to continue our growth and success as a program and working with the current student-athletes to guide them to be the best versions of themselves on and off the track."

Naylon earned her Bachelor of Science in exercise science in 2013 and her Master of Science in exercise science in 2018, both from Cortland.
