Pencic and Melveney Tabbed PrestoSports Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has picked Buffalo State's Theo Pencic and Cortland's Braden Melveney as its PrestoSports Men's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the week respectively.

Pencic led the Bengals with two goals in two games as the squad defeated St. John Fisher and Grove City, both on the road. Pencic's penalty kick in the 78th minute was the difference in Buffalo State's 1-0 victory at Fisher on Tuesday, and he opened the scoring with a goal in the Bengals' 3-2 victory at Grove City Saturday. Pencic has scored a goal in each of the last four games of Buffalo State's five-game winning streak.

Melveney posted a 2-0 record with a 0.50 GAA, nine saves, a .900 save percentage and one shutout as Cortland improved to 5-1-1 on the season with a pair of home wins last week. In a 2-1 victory versus Hobart on Wednesday, Melveney turned aside six shots, including four in the second half. On Saturday, he registered three saves as the Red Dragons defeated Ithaca, 1-0. For the season, Melveney has posted a 5-1-1 record with a 0.56 GAA, an .846 save percentage and three shutouts.
