SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) honors Shannon McGuire of Cortland as the PrestoSports Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week.
McGuire averaged 17.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 2.3 assists per game in a 3-0 week as the Red Dragons extended their winning streak to 16 games. She scored a season-high 26 points, 18 in the second half, and finished 5-of-9 from 3-point range as Cortland pulled away for a 72-51 win over Potsdam Saturday. She scored 18 points and added eight rebounds and four steals the previous night in an 81-45 win over Plattsburgh, and she opened the week with nine points and five assists in a 76-48 win over Fredonia. McGuire shot 51 percent from the field, including 44 percent (10-of-23) from 3-point range.
