Stockdale, Petizian and Mancuso Honored with Weekly PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Awards

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNAYC) has picked Plattsburgh's Bennett Stockdale, Matt Petizian from Geneseo and Joey Mancuso from Plattsburgh as the PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Player, Goaltender and Rookie of the Week respectively.

Stockdale tallied three goals, three points, one game-winning goal, 10 shots on goal and a +4 rating to help Plattsburgh men's ice hockey to a 1-0-1 record on the week. Stockdale began the week by scoring the game-tying and game-winning goals in the Cardinals' 6-5 come-from-behind 6-5 overtime victory over Cortland on Friday night, at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. With the Cardinals trailing 5-4 and under 3:00 minutes to play in the third period, Stockdale redirected a shot from the point by sophomore forward Thomas Maia to tie the game at 5-5 and force overtime. Stockdale then scored the game-winning goal at 3:52 of overtime to secure the victory. Stockdale, who had six shots on goal and a +3 rating, was named the first star of the game. Stockdale then finished the week by giving Plattsburgh a 1-0 lead over Oswego at 16:17 of the first period on Saturday at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. He finished the game with four shots and a +1 rating.

Petizian led the Knights to a 4-1 victory over SUNYAC foe Morrisville on Wednesday night. Petizian finished with 14 saves and helped the Knights kill five out of six power play chances while holding the Mustangs to just one third-period goal. Petizian improves to 2-0-0 in net this season as Geneseo remained unbeaten at 3-0-0 with a 1-0-0 mark in conference play.

Mancuso tallied three goals on a hat trick, one assist, four points and eight shots on goal to help Plattsburgh to a 1-0-1 record on the week. Mancuso began the week by scoring the Cardinals' first three goals of the game for a hat trick in a 6-5 overtime victory against Cortland on Friday night at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. Two of the goals against Cortland came on the power play. He then concluded the week by tallying an assist on the Cardinals' second goal during Plattsburgh's 2-2 overtime tie with Oswego on Saturday night, at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.
