SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) choose Fredonia's Nicole Kumro and Brockport's Catherine Johnson as PrestoSports Softball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week.
Kumro went 6-6 with six doubles in a sweep of Potsdam on Saturday. She also went 4-7 against Plattsburgh with a double and a triple on Friday. Overall she hit .688 for the week, driving in 8 runs in five games. She was 10-14 in conference play. Eight of her 11 hits were for extra base hits. The Devils won 3 of 4 SUNYAC games and clinched a playoff berth.
Johnson stepped into the circle in five games last week for Brockport. She accumulated 14.2 innings pitched, gave up four hits, allowed no earned runs to score, and struck out 24 batters. She recorded six strikeouts in three of the five games and helped the team go 3-3 in the final week of the season.
