POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball player Jessica Ader (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) has been named the first female student-athlete representative to the NCAA Division III Presidents Council.

"I'm excited to give student-athletes a voice at such a high level of governance in the NCAA," said Ader. "I consider it an honor to be the first female athlete to have this title."

Ader is Potsdam's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) vice president and has served as the SUNYAC's representative on the NCAA Division III SAAC since January 2021. Her new role was created in the recently ratified NCAA constitution, in order to give student-athletes a greater voice in the administration of college athletics. The Presidents Council consists of 16 college presidents, two chancellors and a male and female student-athlete representing 20 athletic conferences.

The outside hitter has stood out for the Bears in her two seasons. In 49 career matches, she has totaled 443 kills, 41 service aces and 30 assists. Defensively, she had amassed 505 digs and 25 blocks.

Potsdam opens the 2022 season on September 2, against SUNY Canton in the Alfred University Saxon Classic.
