SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected its first 2021 PrestoSports Women's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week honors. Lauren Sposili from Geneseo is the Swimmer of the Week whileKayra Russ from Brockport is the Diver of the Week.
Sposili finished first in four different events to lead the Knights past Nazareth, 194-106, in the teams' dual meet on Saturday. Sposili placed first in the 200 free (1:59.59), 500 free (5:19.73) and the 200 IM (2:15.32). She then teamed with sophomore Ashley Felber, junior Alexis Falvo and sophomore Grace Kanaley to finish first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:35.54.
Kyra Russ did her part performing as Brockport's top diver in her first collegiate competition over the weekend at the Ithaca College Tri Meet. She took fourth place in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 199.50. Russ posted a score of 200.50 to take fifth in the 1-meter diving event. The team went 1-1 at the meet, defeating Buffalo State and losing to Ithaca.
