Southcott and Guedez Repeat as Prestosports Volleyball Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Cortland teammates Hannah Southcott and Alexa Guedez repeat as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) PrestoSports Women's Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.

Southcott amassed 41 kills (5.1 per set), a .264 attack percentage and 36 digs (4.5 per set) during Cortland's home weekend sweep of Brockport and Geneseo, the 2019 SUNYAC champion and runner-up, respectively. She finished with 18 kills, a .294 attack percentage and a season-high18 digs in a four-set win over Brockport on Friday and posted a career-high 23 kills, a .237 attack percentage and a repeat of 18 digs in a four-set win over Geneseo Saturday. Cortland (13-2) extended its winning streak to eight matches and leads the SUNYAC with a 5-0 mark.

Guedez averaged two blocks per set as Cortland posted four-set wins over Brockport and Geneseo, the 2019 SUNYAC champion and runner-up, respectively. In the Red Dragons' win over Brockport on Friday, she recorded seven blocks, five solo, along with a career-high 10 kills and a .412 attack percentage. The following afternoon versus Geneseo, she had a career-best nine blocks, four of them solo, and added two kills. Cortland (13-2) extended its winning streak to eight matches and leads the SUNYAC with a 5-0 league record.
