INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – SUNY Cortland senior Taylor Williams (Slate Hill/Minisink Valley) earned All-America honors with a sixth-place finish in 3-meter diving during the final day of competition Saturday at the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. The meet was held at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis' IU Natatorium.

Williams also earned honorable mention All-America honors with a 16th-place finish in 1-meter diving.

Williams is Cortland's first women's "top eight" All-America diver since Laura Landry won the 3-meter national title and was the runner-up on the 1-meter board in 1989. The first through eighth finishers earn All-America honors, with ninth through 16th place receiving honorable mention All-America recognition.

Williams was an All-American previously in 2020. During that year, the NCAA championship was canceled due to COVID-19 and all national qualifiers were recognized as All-Americans.

Williams finished with a score of 449.45 points, less than two points from fifth place and three points shy of fourth. Ithaca's Ava Lowell won the national title with 486.45 points.

After the preliminary round, Williams was in seventh place out of 29 competitors with 439.95 points to earn a spot in the eight-diver finals. She was in second place through the ninth of 11 dives after a 52.65-point dive before dropping to sixth after 10 rounds and seventh after 11 rounds.

In the finals, divers repeat the final six dives from prelims and replace those scores. Williams improved her score by nearly 10 points behind the strength of dives of 50.40 points, 52.65 points and 48.00 points.

Cortland finished 29th in the final team scoring out of 46 schools that scored with 14 points. Williams was the Red Dragons' lone competitor, scoring 13 points with her sixth-place 3-meter finish and one point for her 16th-place showing Thursday on the 1-meter board.
