SUNYAC Announces Women's Indoor Track & Field Top Awards

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has announced the 2022 Women's Indoor Track & Field Track Athlete, Field Athlete, Rookie and Coaching Staff of the Year awards as voted on by the conference coaches.

Women's Track Athlete of the Year – Madison Mulder, Geneseo
Geneseo's Mulder was the SUNYAC champion in the 400 meter and broke the meet record with a time of 56.69. She was also a member of the first place 4x400 relay team that finished first at the SUNYAC championship meet with a time of 4:00.27. In addition, Mulder was the runner-up in the 200 meter (25.77) at the conference championship. At the NCAA Division DIII championship meet, Mulder finished third in the 400 meter (56.23) and second in the 4x400 meter relay (3:47.63). Both times were SUNYAC records and Geneseo school records and the 4x400 time is currently the seventh fasted in Division III.

Women's Field Athlete of the Year – Sarah Crockett, Brockport
Crockett's performances throughout the 2021-22 season earned her several honors throughout the SUNYAC. Crockett has been recognized as the SUNYAC Athlete of the Week three times this season. Crockett earned SUNYAC titles in the shot put and the weight throw. Her shot put throw of 14.00 meters is a career-best and sits ninth nationally. Crockett placed sixth in the shot put (13.85) and earned All-American honors for the Golden Eagles at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. She also finished 44th in the weight throw at the national meet.

Women's Rookie of the Year - Marissa Wise, Brockport
Throughout the 2021-22 season, Wise put up top times in her rookie year. At the SUNYAC championship, Wise had a fifth place finish in the 200 meter with a time of 26.28 and she was sixth in the women's 60 meter hurdles. Wise also finished eighth place in the women's 400 meter in a time of 1:01.81. 

Women's Coaching Staff of the Year - Geneseo
The Knights coaching staff is led by head coach, Chris Popovici and is assisted by Dan MooreCamille Wutz, Christian Johnson and Ashton Fischer. The Knights won 13 events at the 2022 SUNYAC championship which led them to take home their fifth consecutive and 12th overall women's indoor track and field conference crown. The staff coached thirty SUNYAC All-Conference honorees and led the women's team to a seventh place finish at the NCAA Division III Championship meet with five All-Americans.
