Q&A: Jordan Penkitis

CORTLAND, N.Y. - This week's State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Q&A is with Jordan Penkitis (Pittsford, N.Y) of Geneseo. Penkitis was this week's PrestoSports Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Penkitis anchored the Geneseo defense in two victories last week. She scored a goal in Wednesday's 5-1 win at Houghton in which the Knights' defense held the Highlanders to eight shots and only four on goal. Penkitis assisted both goals in Geneseo's 2-0 shutout at Cortland on Saturday as Geneseo won its seventh-straight game as well as for the ninth time in its last 10 outings.

Q&A:

1-Do you have a hidden or special talent?

No

2-Do you have any pre-competition rituals?

No

3-What's your favorite memory since competing for your institution?

Beating Cortland at Cortland, 2-0, because it was a team win and we played so well and everyone was ready to play and into the game.

4-If you could have one song play every time you score/get a hit/win a race what would it be? 

It's Tricky by Run- D.M.C

5-If you were stranded on an island, who would you want to be there with you, and why?

My teammates Erin and Ari because Ari would be able to tell us which plants to eat and how to cook them and Erin has a lot of common sense and would keep us alive.

6-What's the best advice anyone has given you?

For this question I honestly couldn't think of anything there's no specific advice I get from people I think it's mostly just encouragement from my teammates and family members.

7-What are some things you do to prepare for a game mentally?

Before a game I like to listen to music on my headphones to some of my favorite songs to get in the mood to play and get excited and have fun with my team in the locker room.

8-Do you have a motto you live by or say to yourself on occasion?

No

9-If you could pick one person in the entire world to be a spectator at all of your games who would it be and why?

My grandpa because he texts me before every game to say good luck and is always excited to watch me play.
