BROCKPORT, N.Y. – After securing their fourth conference championship in the last five years over SUNY Geneseo on Saturday afternoon, the College at Brockport volleyball team booked themselves a ticket to the NCAA Tournament. The tournament selection show was held on Monday morning, where the team received the news of who they are going to face in the first round.

The winner of Wellesley vs. Brockport will play the winner of Westfield vs/ Clarkson on Saturday at 5 p.m. followed by the regional championship Sunday at 1 p.m.

About the Blue:
The Wellesley College Blue earned an at-large bid into the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship after closing out their regular season 22-5 and 9-1 in conference and are coming off a tough five set loss to Emerson in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Semifinals.
This is the Blue's third consecutive and 14th overall time making an appearance in the NCAA tournament, 13 of which were under the direction of head coach Dorothy Webb.
Through 27 matches, the team is averaging 12.35 kills per set, 11.55 assists per set, 1.60 blocks per set, 2.48 service aces per set and 14.00 digs per set for a total .219 hitting percentage. The Blue's offense is being led by junior Lauren Gedney who has amassed 419 total kills, averaging 4.19 per set, while hitting a strong .320. Gedney also leads the team in points with 453.5 total, averaging roughly 4.5 a set. The Blue have also relied on sophomore setter Izzy Seebold to produce scoring opportunities, leading the team in assists with 1,028.
Conference Champions:
The Golden Eagles had a knock out performance this weekend in Geneseo where they dominated offensively against the Red Dragons and the Knights. The conference champions energy was high from the minute they stepped out onto the court, taking a 3-1 match on Friday and Saturday. Both wins occurred in a similar fashion as the Golden Eagles came out hot stealing the first two sets, dropping a third, and then driving it home in the fourth.
The Golden Eagles put themselves in strong position heading into the NCAA tournament, sitting at 19-10 overall on a 10-match win streak. The team is currently averaging the following:
Kills/S: 11.4, Assists/S: 10.8, Service Aces/S: 2.3, Digs/S: 17.0, Blocks/S: 1.7
MVP Status: In addition to winning a conference championship and earning a spot in the NCAA DIII tournament, the Golden Eagles also had three athletes named to the All-Tournament team. Andrea Coyle and Ellen Paddock were both selected to the team for their strong performances throughout the whole weekend, including 24 kills from Coyle and 33 digs from Paddock.
Meaghan Mastro received the award for Most Valuable Players after leading the Golden Eagles to victory in both matchups. In Friday's matchup against Cortland, the junior led the team with 15 kills, one assist, one service ace, five block assists and 11 digs for a total .282 hitting percentage. Mastro then led the Green and Gold to victory Saturday against the Knights, closing out the day with 18 total kills and a .548 hitting percentage, in addition to seven digs, a service ace and three blocks for a total 21 points.
