CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) selects Nadia Moore (Durham, N.C.) and Meaghan Mastro (Apalachin N.Y.) as this weeks Offensive and Defensive Vollyeball PrestoSports Athletes of the Week respectively.
Moore recorded a total of 19 kills (3.2 per set) and a .333 attack percentage as Cortland earned 3-0 home wins vs. both Oneonta and New Paltz. She had six kills, five digs, a block and a .235 attack percentage in a 3-0 victory Friday against Oneonta, and the following afternoon she posted 13 kills with just two errors in 28 attempts for a .393 attack percentage and added two blocks in a 3-0 win over defending league champion New Paltz - Cortland's first win over the Hawks since 2012.
Mastro was a key component in securing the Golden Eagles back to back sweep of conference opponents. The junior is consistently dominant on both sides of the ball but provided the height in front of the net that the Green and Gold needed to hold off the opposing offenses. Mastro accumulated eight blocks and 16 digs through two games, only allowing Fredonia and Buffalo State to notch 39 kills collectively between them. She currently ranks sixth in the SUNYAC in blocks with 48 and ninth in points with 194. In addition to her defensive strength, Mastro also added 12 kills and three aces in two offense heavy matchups for the Green and Gold.
