SUNYAC Selects PrestoSports Softball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week Awards
CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announces the PrestoSports Softball Athlete and Picther of the Week. Cortland's Lexi Szesnat (Schenectady, N.Y.) has been named the PrestoSports Softball Athlete of the Week and New Paltz's Emily Fox (Commack, N.Y.) has been named the PrestoSports Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Szesnat hit .636 (7-for-11) with a double, steal, three RBI and three runs scored as Cortland opened the season with a 2-2 record at the Salisbury Sea Gull Classic. On Sunday she went a combined 4-for-6 with a hit-by-pitch, steal and three RBI in a doubleheader sweep over Lynchburg, an NCAA super regional team last spring. She also hit safely in both of Cortland's games versus nationally ranked Salisbury, going 1-for-3 in the opener and 2-for-2 with a double in the nightcap.
Fox had an impressive opening weekend in two games against Rutgers-Camden and Rowan. She gave up just seven hits, three earned runs and three walks with seven strikeouts with an ERA of 1.91.
