CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announces its PrestoSports Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week. Brockport's Maya Reina (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) was named the Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week and Buffalo State's Ashley Lyons (Freeport, N.Y.) was named the Women's Track Athlete of the Week respectively.
Maya Reina broke her own school and SUNYAC pole vault record again this weekend with a clearance of 3.83 meters in the pole vault to place first in the event for the Golden Eagles. Reina now ranks third on the national qualifying list and has likely punched her ticket to NCAA's.
Lyons won the 400-meter dash on Saturday at the Utica College Blue and Orange Invitational with the the 16th fastest time in Division III this season, clocking 58.70 seconds. She also ran a leg of the winning 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:05.44.
