CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) selects Geneseo teammates Grace Cergol (East Northport, N.Y.) and Sam Mendelsohn (Williamsville, N.Y.) as the PrestoSports Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.
Cergol led Geneseo to a pair of victories as the Knights clinched the top seed for the SUNYAC Tournament and a 9-0 conference record for the second-straight season. She started with 21 kills (including only three attack errors for a .333 hitting percentage) and 13 digs in Friday's 3-1 victory at Cortland to lock up the tournament top seed before compiling 13 kills and 15 digs in Saturday's 3-1 win at Oswego. The two-time SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Year finished first in conference play with 123 kills and 3.62 kills per set.
Mendelsohn helped Geneseo clinch the top seed for the SUNYAC Tournament and a 9-0 conference record for the second-straight season. She totaled a match-high 23 kills in Friday's 3-1 win at Cortland as the Knights locked up the top seed before compiling a four-set career-high 34 digs in Saturday's 3-1 decision at Oswego.
