Geneseo Sweeps Women's Tennis Weekly Awards
CORTLAND, N.Y. - Sam Montague (Glenville, N.Y.) of Geneseo is this week's PrestoSports Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week. Sam Montague (Glenville, N.Y.) was also awarded with this week's PrestoSports Doubles Team of the Week along with Dana Sorrentino (Orangeburg, N.Y.).
Montague led the Knights to a 2-0 week with a pair of victories over conference opponents. Against Brockport on Tuesday, Montague secured a 6-0, 6-0 win at second singles as the Knights rolled to an 8-1 win. On Saturday, Montague took down previously unbeaten Sarah Bunk of Fredonia, 4-6, 7-6, 6-1, helping the Knights to earn a 7-2 win over the Blue Devils.
Montague and Sorrentino stayed perfect in dual-match doubles play, posting two conference victories at first doubles. The Knights' tandem defeated Brockport, 8-5, and took down Fredonia, 8-7 (7-2), both at first doubles. Montague and Sorrentino are 5-0 in dual-match doubles play, including a 4-0 mark against conference opponents.
