CORTLAND, N.Y. - Oneonta's Clara Culeton (Oswego, N.Y.) and Geneseo's Sam Mendelsohn (Williamsville, N.Y.) have been named this week's State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) PrestoSports Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.
Junior middle blocker Culeton helped pace Oneonta to a 3-0 record this past week, including a 2-0 mark in the SUNYAC. Culeton began her week with 15 kills and five blocks in a 3-1 victory over Morrisville. Culeton followed it up with 22 kills and five blocks in wins over Plattsburgh and Potsdam. Culeton finished the week with 37 kills, .408 hitting percentage and ten blocks.
Mendelsohn had a career weekend to help the Knights to a 2-1 record at the Clarkson Invitational. She set a career-high with 35 digs in Friday's 3-2 victory over Nazareth before breaking it with 36 in Saturday's 3-2 victory over St. Lawrence. She also added 18 digs in Saturday's 3-1 setback to Clarkson.
