CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Brian Terra (Bay Shore, N.Y.) of Oswego and Theo Pencic (Oslo, Norway) of Buffalo State as this week's PrestoSports Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week. Pencic will be taking home the Offensive Athlete of the week award and Terra earns himself Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Terra was a strong force in net this week, playing strong against #21 Ithaca and earning a shutout victory against Misericordia. As the Lakers took on #21 Ithaca Friday afternoon, Terra kept the game close recording four saves on the day. The Bay Shore native would continue his strong week in net as the Lakers took on Misericordia on Saturday. Terra set a new season-high in saves tallying eight on the day. His eight saves led the Lakers to a 2-0 victory, recording his third shutout of the year. Terra and the rest of the Men's Soccer team will go on to play Geneseo and Brockport this week, both games are in Oswego.
Pencic scored twice and assisted on the other goal as Buffalo State improved to 7-0 with a 3-0 win over D'Youville in the team's only action of the week. The sophomore striker leads the nation with 12 goals and 28 points so far this season. In his one game this week, Pencic also posted a shot-on-goal percentage of .667 and didn't get any red or yellow cards against him. Buffalo State men's Soccer goes on to play Potsdam and Plattsburgh this week, both games are away games.
