CORTLAND, N.Y. - This week's PrestoSports Athletes of the Week for Women's Swimming and Diving go to Geneseo teammates Noelle Staso (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) and Alyssa Vadala (Liverpool, N.Y.)
Staso earned five top-five finishes, including a first-place finish and set a program record in the 100 breast as the Knights placed second at the Ithaca Winter Invitational over the weekend. Staso finished fifth in the 50 free with a time of 24.31. She added a fourth place finish in the 200 breast at 2:23.78. She swam a leg of the Knights fourth-place 800 free relay (7:58.37) and in Geneseo's second place 400 free relay (3:32.16). In the 100 breast, she placed first with a time of 1:05.26, breaking the Geneseo program record.
Vadala checked in as the Knights' top diver of the weekend as the team finished second in the Ithaca Winter Invitational. Vadala placed second off the three-meter board with a score of 448.90 and then placed first off the one-meter board with a score of 435.10.
