
First 2019 PrestoSports Men's Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards Announced
CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Brockport's Brandon Amthor (Hamlin, N.Y.) as the PrestoSports Men's Swimmer of the Week, and Geneseo's Corey Wirth (Lima, N.Y.) as the PrestoSports Men's Diver of the Week.
At the Ithaca College Quad Meet over the weekend, Amthor was on the 200-yard medley relay team that placed first with a time of 1:41.68. Amthor grabbed second overall in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.42, his first individual swim of the day. He then followed that up with a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, where he recorded a time of 48.66. The junior's best finish of the day came in the 100-yard IM, where he not only posted first overall, but his time of 55.39 also broke the Brockport school record.
Wirth opened the season with a pair of wins off the one-meter and three-meter board against Nazareth on Saturday. In the one-meter, Wirth scored 319.80, an NCAA Regional qualifying mark, to take first, and added a gold-medal finish in the three-meter with a score of 275.65.
