Q&A: Seaver Lipshie

CORTLAND, N.Y. - This week's State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Q&A is with the PrestoSPorts Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week, Seaver Lipshie (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.).

In their only game of the week, the Oneonta women's soccer team defeated Vassar College, 3-2, thanks to a pair of goals from Lipshie. Lipshie broke a scoreless tie in the 23rd minute when she finished off a cross from teammate Christina Kornfeld. Lipshie scored the eventual game-winner in the 55th minute on a free kick that put the Red Dragons ahead, 3-1. The goals for Lipshie on Saturday were her first two of the season, as she is tied with two other players for the team lead. Lipshie also didn't receive any yellow or red cards, further aiding her team in a close win over Vassar College.

1-Do you have a hidden or special talent?

I can juggle 3 soccer balls with my hands

2-Do you have any pre-competition rituals?

I lead my warmup line through a variety of handshakes before a game

3-What's your favorite memory since competing for your institution?

My sophomore year when we went on our spring trip to California and went hiking at Torrey Pines State Reserve.

4-If you could have one song play every time you score/get a hit/win a race what would it be?

My body -Young the Giant

5-If you were stranded on an island, who would you want to be there with you, and why?

My cat Kobe. She's fearless and we would make a great team in the wild.

6-What is your spirit animal?

A red fox

7-What's the best advice anyone has given you?

Don't let the peaks get too high and the valleys too low

8-What are some things you do to prepare for a game mentally?

I give myself plenty of time to get ready before a game so I do not feel rushed. I take a minute and look around the locker room and think I only get to play with this group of girls once

9-Do you have a motto you live by or say to yourself on occasion?

Wherever you are, be all there.

10-If you could pick one person in the entire world to be a spectator at all of your games who would it be and why?

My dad, it's fitting since he's never missed a game. I can always hear his calm positive voice in the crowd. He not only cheers for me, but has everyone's name down on the roster by the first game of the season.
