Q&A: Ankit Patel

CORTLAND, N.Y. - This week's State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Q&A is with the PrestoSports Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week,  Ankit Patel (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.).

Patel, the sophomore midfielder, scored all three goals for Plattsurgh as the Cardinals went 2-0-0 on the week to clinch a berth in the 2019 SUNYAC men's soccer tournament and move into a tie with Oneonta for first place in the SUNYAC standings. Patel started the week by scoring the game-winning goal in the 74th minute of Plattsburgh's 1-0 win over Cortland on Friday at the Field House Complex. Patel then scored both Plattsburgh goals in the Cardinals' 2-0 win over Oswego in a home match on Saturday. He scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the seventh minute of the match and then added an insurance goal in the 70th minute. With the three goals, Patel tallied six points on the week

1-Do you have a hidden or special talent?

I know a couple of magic tricks 

2-Do you have any pre-competition rituals?

Wake up eat breakfast and start thinking about the game.

3-What's your favorite memory since competing for your institution?

Scoring my first goal against SUNY Canton my freshman year.

4-If you could have one song play every time you score/get a hit/win a race what would it be?

Tu no metes Cabra by bad bunny it's a Spanish song.

5-If you were stranded on an island, who would you want to be there with you, and why?

With my older brother because he always knows how to make the right decision. 

6-What is your spirit animal?

Probably a horse because they are really competitive.

7-What's the best advice anyone has given you?

Never underestimate someone.

8-What are some things you do to prepare for a game mentally?

Listen to music and concentrate for the game.

9-Do you have a motto you live by or say to yourself on occasion?

Take advantage of my opportunities

10-If you could pick one person in the entire world to be a spectator at all of your games who would it be and why?

My mom because she is really supportive and motivates me to win before every game.
