Cortland No. 1 in 2021 SUNYAC Baseball Preseason Poll

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has released its 2022 baseball preseason poll with Cortland voted No. 1 followed by Oswego and Brockport.

Cortland won its 35th overall SUNYAC championship title in 2021 and was the NCAA Division III Auburn, N.Y. Regional champions. The Red Dragons advanced to the NCAA DIII World Series for the 15th time overall and first time since 2016. Cortland went 2-2 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and finished the season 33-9 overall.

The Lakers 2021 conference post season run brought them to game three of the SUNYAC final series where they lost to Cortland, 8-6, but earned an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament. Prior to last season the Lakers won the conference championship in 2018 and 2019 and earned an automatic berth as the regular-season champion in 2017. Oswego will look to win its 16th overall conference crown this season.

Brockport made it to the SUNYAC semifinal series in 2021 and lost to eventual conference champions, Cortland. The Golden Eagles finished last season 18-7 overall. Brockport looks to win its seventh overall and first league title since 2010.

The 2022 regular season conference games will start March 25-26 and the SUNYAC baseball championship is set for May 12-14.
