SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) recognizes Brockport's Olivia Hayden and Catherine Johnson as PrestoSports Softball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week respectively.
Hayden batted .583 over the course of the first four games of Brockport's spring training trip to Florida this past weekend. She posted a team-high seven hits in 12 at-bats and scored four runs to go along with two RBIs. She successfully stole three bases as the Golden Eagles went 3-1 in the season opening stretch. Her seven total bases are tied for the team lead.
Fifth year Johnson pitched a complete game, struck out seven and allowed just five hits and one earned run as the Golden Eagles defeated Rockford University 3-2 in their season opener at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Meyers, Florida on Saturday. She forced 10 fly outs and four ground outs to pick up her first win of the young season. Brockport is currently 3-1 in Florida and Johnson has an ERA of 1.00.
