SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) honors Cortland teammates Hannah Southcott and Alexa Guedez as this week's PrestoSports Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.
Southcott averaged 5.1 kills and 2.9 digs per set and posted a .419 attack percentage in two road league wins for the Red Dragons. She had 19 kills, a .395 attack percentage and 11 digs in a sweep at Buffalo State on Friday, followed the next afternoon with 17 kills and just one error in 36 attempts for a .444 hitting percentage, along with nine digs, in a four-set win at Fredonia.
Guedez totaled 12 blocks, 10 of them solo, during Cortland's two league road victories. She registered six blocks, five solo, in each of the two matches - a three-set sweep at Buffalo State Friday and a four-set win at Fredonia Saturday. Four of her six blocks at Fredonia came during the clinching fourth set. Guedez also had four kills versus Fredonia and two at Buffalo State.
