Galluzzo and Funke Tabbed PrestoSports Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) PrestoSports Women's Soccer Weekly Awards go to Cortland's Jaden Galluzzo, the Offensive Athlete of the Week and New Paltz's Jess Funke, the Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Galluzzo helped guide the Red Dragons (5-4-1, 3-1 SUNYAC) to a pair of home conference wins last weekend, scoring five points on two goals and one assist. In a 4-0 victory versus Fredonia on Friday, she tallied the game-winning goal in the ninth minute. Galluzzo then netted Cortland's second goal and assisted on the team's fourth goal in the first half as the Red Dragons defeated Buffalo St., 9-0, on Saturday. For the season, Galluzzo leads the team with 14 points on a team-best six goals and two assists and has moved into 26th place in career scoring at Cortland with 50 points on 21 goals and eight assists.

Funke was pivotal in two road wins for the Hawks this weekend over Potsdam and Plattsburgh. Starting at center back and playing 170 of 180 minutes on the weekend, she helped shut down a Cardinals team who was averaging nearly two goals per game heading into the contest with their only score coming off a penalty kick. Additionally, Funke gave New Paltz an early 1-0 lead off a header on a corner to score her first goal of her career and propel the 2-1 victory. In another impressive defensive performance, she held down the defense to hold the Bears to just four shots on goal in a 2-0 shutout victory for the Hawks.
