Jones and Hughes Tabbed PrestoSports Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Cortland's Aaron Jones and Amarian Hughes as this week's PrestoSports Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week respectively.

Jones won two events and was part of a winning relay at the Utica Holiday Classic. He was first out of 57 competitors in the 200-meter dash in 22.26 seconds, which ranks him sixth nationally in Division III, and he was first of 14 in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.25 seconds and currently is fourth nationally in that event. In the 4x200-meter relay, he ran the anchor leg for the Red Dragons, who won the event in 1:30.82. Cortland finished second out of 12 schools in the final team standings.

Hughes was the top collegiate finisher in the triple jump at the Utica Holiday Classic with a distance of 13.94 meters (45' 9"). The distance would have ranked him 10th nationally in Division III, but he already ranks eighth nationally based on his performance the previous week. His effort helped Cortland finish second out of 12 schools in the final team standings.
