SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named Seasn Zupko of Cortland the PrestoSports Men's Swimmer of the Week while Geneseo's Trent Makowiec was named the Diver of the Week.
Zupko helped lead Cortland to three dual-meet victories during the week. He opened the week Wednesday with wins in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.95) and 400-yard IM (4:35.45), the latter as an exhibition entry due to the team score at the time, and a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (57.61), in a 165-120 home win over Oswego. The following day, he won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:22.82), 500-yard freestyle (5:00.86) and 200-yard freestyle (1:51.40) in a 156-106 win at New Paltz. Zupko closed out the week Saturday by winning the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:16.13) and 500-yard freestyle (5:01.58) in Cortland's 170-124 victory at Division II Le Moyne.
Sophomore diver Makowiec swept the diving events at the RIT Quad Meet, helping the Knights to three wins on Saturday. Makowiec scored 320.25 off the three-meter board to take first place in the event and then earned a 315.95 score off the one-meter board to sweep both events. The Knights own a 7-0 mark in dual meets and rank 21st in the latest CSCAA rankings.
