SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) awards Cortland's Danny Coleman and Brockport's Tom Kretzler as this week's PrestoSports Baseball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week.
Coleman batted .600 (6-for-10) with four walks, three doubles, three runs, four RBI and a .714 on-base percentage as Cortland swept a three-game series versus New Paltz to close out the regular season. He was 3-for-4 with a walk and two doubles in a 12-3 win over the Hawks on Saturday and went 2-for-4 with a walk and double in an 8-7 win on Friday.
In the final nomination of his career, Kretzler earned his third SUNYAC PrestoSports weekly award this season with this being his first Pitcher of the Week Award. Tom Kretzler recorded his fourth complete game and second complete-game shutout of the season on Saturday when he picked up his seventh win of the season in a 1-0 victory over Plattsburgh. In the game, Kretzlers struck out a total of nine batters for an 11.57 K/9 while only allowing a total of three hits against the Cardinals. Kretzler also finished the week at the plate hitting .300 with a triple and two RBIs. He ranks 18th in the nation in WHIP (0.89), 23rd in ERA (1.71), and completes games (4), while also ranking 19th in the nation with his impressive performance at the plate in home runs hit (13).
