Game seven picked back up this morning in the top of the fifth inning with the Lakers leading 4-1.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Oswego State 4 ,  Arcadia 1

Location:  Skip Wilson Field, Temple University's Ambler Campus, Pennsylvania

Records: #2 Oswego State 33-11 (4-1 Regional Round), #1 Arcadia 40-9 (2-2 Regional Round)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lakers took down Elizabethtown in day one of the regionals by a score of 8-2.
  • Day two was a whirlwind for the Lakers as game two did not go their way. They were defeated by the Arcadia Knights by a score of 10-7.
  • Game three was an elimination game as they defeated the Husson Eagles 12-10.
  • This came after a weather delay that postponed the game until Sunday morning where the Lakers would have to play twenty straight innings, in theory.
  • Game four the Lakers dominated in every aspect, defeating Arcadia in another elimination game for the Lakers 11-4.
  • Game five for the Lakers was postponed due to inclement weather and darkness once again.
  • The Lakers lead 4-1 going into the top of the 5th inning.
  • Oswego and Arcadia would have to pick up the game this morning at 11am. Oswego came out strong defensively and Anthony Van Fossen shut the Knights down to win the regional championship.
  • With so much adversity the Lakers faced this weekend, they stayed mentally tough and took home the championship.
  • Oswego State left Pennsylvania 4-1 in their regional bracket.

Game 2 vs. Arcadia (continued)

  • In the winner take all Regional Championship game the Lakers wasted no time putting up runs in the first inning.
  • In that first inning the Lakers plated four runs. These came by an RBI single from Lauria and a three-run homerun from Ryan Weiss
  • The second inning went scoreless as the Lakers and Knights retired six of ten batters in the inning.
  • After an Arcadia hit by pitch and a single the Knights got on the board with a SAC fly.
  • The rest of third and the fourth inning as well went quietly before the rain postponed the contest until tomorrow at 11am.
  • Oswego State and Arcadia picked up in the fifth inning at 11am this morning.
  • The final four and a half innings were completely different then the first four.
  • Neither Oswego nor Arcadia allowed a run after the postponement of the win or go home championship game.
  • Van Fossen picked up right where Thomas Pecchia left off.
  • Van Fossen didn't allow a hit in the five innings pitched for the Lakers, facing 15 batters and striking out two.
  • Oswego came out of the postponement this morning and added five more hits to the boxscore but were unable to plate another run.
  • Oswego dominated in the hits department as they totaled 10 hits to Arcadia's total of three.
