SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's basketball championship game will be between No. 1 Cortland and No. 2 New Paltz, Saturday at 4 p.m. at Cortland.
New Paltz beat Geneseo, 53-41, while Cortland topped Oneonta, 69-52, Friday night in the semifinal games.
The Hawks will defend the championship title after winning the last two years. The Red Dragons look to win their eighth overall SUNYAC crown and first since 2010.
Elite 20
The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. Friday night Geneseo's Hannah Stockman, an early childhood education major with a 3.95 GPA was recognized as this year's winner.
