Gillis and Elmer recognized as PrestoSports Women's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) recognizes Maddie Gillis of New Paltz and Morgan Elmer of Brockport as PrestoSports Women's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week.

Gillis had a career day in a 17-16 win over Oneonta Wednesday. She tied the program record for single-game assists, tallying six to lead her team and finished with nine points, which is second most ever in program history. Her six assists and nine points also set a career-high for the junior. She then added four goals in a 14-3 win over Buffalo State Saturday to lead her team with 13 points on the weekend. She added three ground balls in the two games and tallied nine draw controls, and was key defensively as well, registering two and three caused turnovers, the latter also set a career-high.

Elmer continues to be solid in net for the nationally ranked Golden Eagles, recording six saves in two dominant wins last week. She made three saves and allowed just two goals to score in just 30 minutes of play against both Buffalo State and Plattsburgh. Adding two more wins to the record, Brockport clinches a spot in the SUNYAC tournament at 8-5 overall and 5-2 in the conference.
