Indianapolis, IN — The 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball tournament brackets were announced Monday afternoon with the State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball team set to travel to the University of Scranton and face Babson College in the first round.
The Hawks (20-6 overall, 14-4 SUNYAC) defeated No. 1 seed SUNY Cortland in the SUNYAC Championship game Saturday, 66-63 to earn their third-straight SUNYAC title and an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
SUNY New Paltz will face the Beavers who finished the regular season at 19-7 overall, losing in the NEWMAC Championship to Smith College, a team the Hawks lost to as well earlier in the season. The winner of the matchup will play in the second-round game Saturday against either the hosting Royals or New Jersey City College at John Long Center in Scranton, PA.
