Oneonta Women's Tennis NCAA Tournament run ends in second round

The most successful season in the history of women's tennis at SUNY Oneonta came to a close today with a loss to No. 4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the second round of the NCAA Tournament played at Case Western Reserve University.  The Red Dragons finish its season with an overall record of 18-7 establishing a program record for wins.
 
"I am so proud of this team," stated Head Coach Lonnie Mitchel.  "We had a great ride, and today, we just met up with a highly talented team.  We poured our heart into every point and proved that we should be here.  We are grateful for all the support we received, and this won't be the last time for SUNY Oneonta tennis at the national tournament."
 
The final score of the match was officially 5-0, as the Red Dragons battled an opponent with many nationally ranked players throughout its lineup.
 
Playing in their final matches for Oneonta were seniors Olivia Fraser (Queensbury/Queensbury)Madeline Carswell (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) and Rebecca Macdonald (Brooklyn/Leon M. Goldstein).  Classmates Ariel Loucks (Averill Park/Averill Park)Amelia Wilson (Averill Park/Averill Park)Sarah Sampson (Albany/Albany)Brianna Harmon (Endicott/Union Endicott) and Stephanie Menoutis (Warwick/Warwick Valley) were all present.  This class will leave an indelible mark on the program and will always be remembered for bringing Oneonta its first SUNYAC title.
