Shultz and Battistoni Recognized with PrestoSports Men's Soccer Weekly Awards

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named Cortland's Matt Shultz the PrestoSports Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week while Oneonta's Tristan Battistoni earned the PrestoSports Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Shultz was named the Offensive MVP of the Rutgers-Camden Cialella Soccer Classic after leading the Red Dragons (3-1-1) to the title this past weekend. After Cortland defeated Stockton, 2-0, on Saturday, Shultz was involved in all four Red Dragon goals in a 4-1 victory over host Rutgers-Camden on Sunday, scoring three goals and adding an assist as Cortland handed the Scarlett Raptors their first setback of the season.

Battistoni led the defense last week in three wins for Oneonta while contributing to the offense this past weekend in helping to lead Oneonta to the title of the Mayor's Cup tournament hosted by the Red Dragons. On Saturday, Battistoni aided the offense with an assist on the final goal of a 4-2 win versus Clarkson. On Sunday, after taking a 2-1 lead against St. Lawrence, he and his backline mates shut down the Saints by not allowing a single shot in the final 20 minutes of a 2-1 victory. Battistoni's efforts in the back earned him the Defensive MVP honor of the tournament.
